An eye catching performance first up leaves the Adam Durrant trained Son Of Something well placed to return to the winner's stall at Belmont on Saturday.
Successful in returning a new career peak first up, Son Of Something is set to go one better stepping up in trip, in the final event.
Lining up at just his fourteenth start, the son of Blackfriars showed good progression last time in and has given all indications that there is more to come.Leading trainer Adam Durrant began this new season, following his most successful (2013/14), when recording an overall strike rate of 23%.
With William Pike aboard the Durrant stable had a strike rate of 43% and ran at a POT of 34%, all key stats pointing to a seventh victory for Son Of Something.Durrant trained over 100 winners and at Belmont, Durrant had a strike rate of 26% and notably ran at a POT of +11.2%.
The start to this season, has proven little change for Durrant, collecting nine winners from 48 starts. With a further eleven minor placings, the Lark Hill based trainer has continued his dominance of the West.
Currently installed a 6-4 chance appears a more than fair gamble given we have him marked closer to an even money chance. From the good draw Pike is expected to settle Son Of Something towards the rear, before peeling him to the outside in the straight.
His closing sectionals last start were most impressive and he should prove very hard to hold out.The Donna Riordan trained Terror Force proved most unlucky not to salute at this course and distance last start and can atone in the seventh event.
He was blocked for a run for the majority of the straight and was definitely a forgive performance. On best form he does appear well placed and the added aid of Ellie Cockram's claim reads well for his chances.
Currently installed a 6-1 chance appears a more than fair gamble and he is expected to be right around the mark.BET OF THE DAY: Race 8 #1 Son Of Something @ $2.50
