Morphettville main track is the venue and the Listed Durbridge Stakes is the feature.
With a short, sharp campaign likely, think Hucklebuck will be hard to beat in that main race.
He did win first up this course and distance in February before winning the CS Hayes at Flemington.
His best efforts are in that 1200/1400m range and as such he can be ridden right on the back of the speed from this draw.
The Elvstroem gelding’s only run in open grade was in the Stradbroke and while beaten when near favourite he was hardly horrible running sixth, only two lengths back.
Looking for him to get out late and charge home.
However our bet of the day is the O’Sullivan’s Melaleuca. This mare has been so consistent this prep.
She won at Ararat but then went to town and was second at the night program at Moonee Valley over the mile.
It’s an even race on paper and a step up in trip looks suitable given 12 months ago she was beaten under two lengths in the Ethereal Stakes behind Arabian Gold.
Clare Lindop riding on her local track is a positive too.
Maybe just take the Melaleuca/Hucklebuck double near the 4-1 mark.
