Best From The West - September 3

3 minute read

The Grant and Alana Williams trained Falcon Crest presents good value in the fifth event at Belmont on Saturday as he appears well placed to bring up the hat-trick.

Only a recent stable addition, Falcon Crest won impressively on debut for the Williams' stable two back before taking a good step forward when again successful last start.

Successful in recording a new career peak, the lightly raced five-year-old has clearly gone to a new level since transferring stables and it's hard to see him taking a backwards step racing third up.

A winner of three of his 11 starts, he has placed in three of four attempts over this trip and has won two of four at this track.

Leading rider William Pike sticks aboard and he looks to receive all the favours with both Baraki Beats and All Too Much the expected front-runners.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings Falcon Crest looks to set a decent standard and presents good value at his current quote of 3-1.

We have him marked closer to a 6-4 chance and hence he presents quite the overlay (15%).

The prospect of a rain affected track is some query however given the price on offer we are more than happy to take that risk.

If able to improve further off his last start win he looks to set the bar fairly high for his rivals and should prove very hard to beat.

The Simon Miller trained Kimbo's Girl returned in good order last start and appears well placed to break through for her maiden win in the second event.

Although yet to salute from three starts the daughter of Patronize has displayed plenty of ability and looks set to relish the step up to 1400m.

Her last start effort behind The Celt sees her the top rated galloper on 50 day figures and given she remains open to further improvement she looks to set a decent standard.

From the favourable draw she should receive all the favours and presents good value at her current quote ($2.50).

While no lavish price on the surface, however value lies in the eye of the beholder and given we have her marked closer to an even money shot we are more than happy to play.

As a side note, TopBetta will have its first King Of The Spring tournament on Saturday ($30K Total Prize Pool) and while Belmont won't play a part it is definitely worth checking out - Click Here .
