History augers well for boom colt Menari heading into Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Rose.
The Gerald Ryan-trained colt has been dominant in winning both The Rosebud and the Run To The Rose this campaign, comfortably accounting for a host of the same rivals he again does battle against contesting the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m).
Menari rates clear on top in the 14 horse field and would become the fourth colt in a row to claim the Run To The Rose – Golden Rose double, following in the footsteps of Hallowed Crown (2014), Exosphere (2015) and Astern (2016).
From a wide barrier, expect the colt with Josh Parr in the saddle to work across and settle outside anticipated leader The Mission.
As well as history in his favour, both trainer Gerald Ryan and jockey Josh Parr are in brilliant form.
The trio will be hard to deny a Golden Rose victory at Rosehill on Saturday.
Scratchings of Bonny O’Reilly and Omei Sword have thinned out the depth in Saturday’s Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m).
Now down to a field of nine, Euro Angel profiles as a main beneficiary.
The mare has placed in each of her two runs this prep, the latest behind Deploy in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m).
She has been finding the line well like a rise to 1500m will suit.
A Group 3 winning, multiple Group placed mare, Euro Angel is suited under quality conditions being one of just five horse now remaining in the handicap.
Sticking with the proven class horses in the event shapes as the way to go with topweight Good Project another of these who goes around at a price in the Shannon Stakes (1500m).
