Nine races, including the final Group 1 of the Sydney Spring Carnival, are conducted at Randwick on Saturday.
The program features a host of runners looking to book their ticket south for the Melbourne spring with one of them the James Cummings-trained Interlocuter.
Interlocuter has impressed during his short time in Australia and on resuming produced a career best effort in a 1400m Benchmark 84 at Rosehill.
While first past the post, the son of Medaglia D’Oro lost the event in the protest room to Wayanka.
It was an unfortunate conclusion to what was an excellent first up display and Interlocuter is largely expected to go one better contesting the Adina Apartment Hotels Benchmark 85 Handicap (1600m).
Since his career best display first up, Interlocuter has been kept ticking over with a Randwick barrier trial.
Rising to a mile will suit on his way to likely ten furlongs this prep.
The third event of the card as a whole looks short on depth and looks an ideal opportunity for Interlocuter to continue his progression through the grades.
For something at better odds we go to Tangled in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m).
Tangled backs up into the Spring Champion Stakes after a fast closing fourth in the Dulcify Quality (1600m) at the course.
His run was a genuine eye catcher, beaten just over half a length whilst conceding his rivals anywhere between 3.5kg and 7.5kg at the weights.
The son of Snitzel now meets two horses out of the same race in Dissolution and Langley 7.5kg better at the weights.
The Spring Champion Stakes field has two clear form lines, the Gloaming Stakes where Ace High and Sanctioned ran the quinella and the Dulcify Quality.
The Gloaming tends to be the form line which holds up best in the Spring Champion Stakes however that said, Hampton Court did win the 2014 Dulcify Quality prior to tasting Group 1 success the following week.
No horse in the field has experience over ten furlongs with pedigree a larger than normal factor when it comes to analysing the field.
Tangled whilst by Snitzel is out of a New Zealand Oaks winner in Bramble Rose who has to date produced a number over a mile up to 2200m.
There is more than enough evidence to suggest Tangled will run a bold race for his followers at Group 1 level on Saturday.
