The Adam Durrant trained Western Temple won impressively last weekend and appears well placed to go on with the job at Ascot on Saturday.

Formerly trained by Team Williams, Western Temple often mixed it with some of WA's leading 3YOs and certainly deserved his success last Saturday.

He has placed three times behind Variation during his career, form which again leaves him very well placed on Saturday.

Western Temple put the writing on the wall in his stable debut when pushing the much in-form Oliver's Travels.

Aided by a well judged ride from Brodie Kirby, Western Temple put his rivals to the sword and appears more than capable of going back-to-back.

While some may tag him as a non-winner, his record now reads 15 starts for two wins and nine minor placings, of those nine placings, four have come at Listed level.

He went into last weekend with 28 days between runs so there are no concerns with the quick back up and with Kirby sticking aboard, he certainly appears well placed.

This season apprentice rider Brodie Kirby is striking at 21% (261 rides) and has run at a POT of +35.7%. With favourites he is striking at 44% > 15.9% POT - simply airborne.

If Western Temple can repeat what he did last weekend, he will be winning - simple.

The Brett Pope trained Rare Coin is racing in fantastic form and appears well placed to bring up the hat-trick in the fifth event,

An impressive winner two back at Bunbury (beating Sentimental Friend), Rare Coin took another step forward when winning at this C&D last start.

Successful in returning a new career peak on that occasion, he is simply flying and appears more than capable of notching up the hat-trick from the good draw.
