Caulfield throws up a deep betting card to go alongside Day Two of The Championships in Sydney and there look some nice options for punters.
The sixth race on the card is a 2000m handicap for the usual suspects with the possible exception of Spectroscope who comes down the highway from Sydney where he has run two even races this time in.
He's found the line well enough in those two runs and but we are tipping a more vibrant Spectroscope this week with blinkers on and a step up in trip to 2000m.
It's the first time Spectroscope has been out of group races since his Australian debut which he quickened up nicely to win and it's also just his second time at 2000m in Australia.
His peak form in France was at 2000m and his lone run at the trip in this country saw him starting in the market in a Coongy Handicap back in the spring. He ran out of room late there and probably should have gone very close to winning with a trouble-free passage.
Things are certainly no tougher today and the talented Ethan Brown, who is tipped to ride plenty of winners in the coming months in Melbourne, appealing as a good booking.
In fact, we'll stick with Ethan for an each-way play and we're sticking with the blue jackets as well.
Race seven on the card is a terrific contest with plenty of promising three-year-olds lining up over 1200m.
It's one of those races where it's hard to know where to look but we think that early prices about Regimen make her an attractive each-way gamble.
She's probably not the best horse here but she's got recent racing under her belt and her latest didn't work out for her at all.
Her ratings are good enough to have us thinking that even luck in running here has her in the finish and prices around $9.00 are well worth taking.
