It's a monster weekend of racing in Melbourne with Group 1 cards on Friday and Sunday book-ending the Grand Final on Saturday.

We will want to be starting such a big weekend on a positive note and so the Melbourne Mail will look to the Valley on Friday night where the Moir Stakes is the headline.

It looks a terrific Group 1 contest and a fascinating race but we are looking elsewhere for betting options.

The Stutt Stakes throws up a favourite that we can label as our best of the night.

Leonardo Da Hinchi has strung together above-average ratings and his effort to stretch the talented Brutal at Flemingto last time looks a hot piece of form.

If he can repeat that performance tonight he should get away with the Stutt where the likes of Outrageous and Muswellbrook are building nicely but looking a peg below Leonardo.

The little query would be getting pushed down to the fence from the low draw but he should be able to stay off the paint and get rolling at the right time.

For an each way play we roll back to the JRA Cup where Trap Of Fools heads the betting but Sir Isaac Newton appeal to us as one worth keeping on side at better odds.

This looks like his best chance in Australia to date and he comes poised off a first up run where he found the line nicely in a race that rated highly. He won't have to improve much on that to be right in the finish of this.
